Seating Chart treats the room you teach in and the students you teach as two connected things. Keeping them separate means you can build a familiar room once and use it with every class that meets there.
A classroom is the room
The classroom describes the physical space: its desks, furniture, layout, and orientation. It answers the question, “What does this room look like?”
If you teach in more than one room, each physical room can have its own classroom layout.
A class is the people
A class contains its own students, roster, and seating arrangement. It answers the question, “Who is meeting in this room right now?”
First period and third period can use the same classroom while keeping different students and different seating assignments.
How they work together

Arrange the desks and furniture so the classroom is recognizable at a glance.

Add the group of students who meets in that room.

Give the class its own arrangement without rebuilding the physical classroom.
